“…just part of the disease!”
I just got back from my 29 week appointment and everything is great!
Blood pressure…good!
Weight gain…good! (I’ve gained another five pounds. That makes 22 pounds total so far. 22! This is definitely a special day, Melanie and Ashley! For those who don’t know, my friend Melanie, sister Ashley, and me all wore the number 22 back in the good old volleyball playin’ days. I think this is significant enough to go in the baby book!)
Her heartbeat…good!
Her position in my belly…good!
And great news… there is no limit to the number of Tums I can eat in one day. Woo hoo! Gotta love the Tums. The chocolate and vanilla smoothie kind is my favorite!
I asked the doctor about some sharp pains and cramping I’ve been having (just as a precaution) and he said there’s nothing to be concerned about. I’m going to have all sorts of aches and pains in the days ahead. “One hip will go one way, the other will go another way.” “It’s all just part of the disease!” I love my doctor!
And the Spelling Is…
After much deliberation as well as the consideration of your votes from the poll, Brian and I have FINALLY reached a decision on the spelling of her name…

Now, for a little background information on how we picked the name in the first place.
I was attending a Bible study quite a while back and during one of the video sessions the author of the study referred to the word “charis” in her message and noted it’s the Greek word for “grace.” At that moment I thought this would be a beautiful name for a little girl. As I thought a little harder I determined the perfect middle name would be “Grace.” Grace upon grace—what believers have been given through Jesus’ death on the cross.
I was so excited about the name I couldn’t wait to tell Brian. (Keep in mind this all occurred before I was even pregnant.) As soon as I got home I told him I had found a wonderful name for a little girl… “charis.” “Oh yeah,” he said. “Grace.” He liked it! I then proceeded to ask him for his suggestion of a middle name just to see what he could come up with. He thought for a bit and said, “Grace.” NO WAY!!!! And it was for the same reason I picked it…grace upon grace! So, we determined this would some day be the name of one of our little girls.

“For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.”—John 1:16

On Monday, May 26, 2008, we took a home pregnancy test and found out that we were great with child (before that we were just plain great). Who knew that peeing on a stick could bring such joy? We even took a picture of the stick but we’ll spare everyone that image.
