Schizophrenic Fan
A couple at our church were kind enough to buy Kharis this cute little Volunteers outfit. (We were wondering when the color orange would make its way into our home.) So out of the kindness of OUR hearts we decided to let her wear it today for the big UT/UF game. (Go Florida. Shhhh!) Just to even things out, though, Kharis also made an appearance in some Mizzou attire to make sure everyone knows she’ll always be Mizzou through and through.

Kharis’ July
July was a pretty eventful month for Miss Kharis Grace. First, was her first 4th of July! Even though she saw no fireworks, she was all dolled up and ready to go days in advance. Here are some pictures of all her fab 4th outfits…
Grandma and Grandpa Parrish came to visit us in our new home at the beginning of July. While here, Kharis drank water out of a straw for the first time– a big milestone for G&G to witness. They also got to be here for Brian’s first sermon at our new church.
We went to Splash Country with the youth group from the church and Kharis got to give swimming a try. Not a big hit. The water was freezing and it only frustrated her. The day definitely wore her out, though…
Grandma Arnold, Aunt Ashley, and Chris came to visit too. While here, Kharis celebrated her six month birthday, ate cereal for the first time, rolled over for the first time, and got to go to the park for a picnic and some play time…for the first time.
And finally, Kharis DID end up ”swimming” in her new pool Grandma and Grandpa Parrish bought her. She loved it!
Big month for the little girl. August should be just as exciting!!
New Home…New Church…Newport
As of Wednesday, July 29 we’ve been living in Newport, TN for one month. After almost one year of praying, learning, and seeking God’s face, He has provided for us a new place of ministry. Brian resigned from his co-pastor position in Nashville and accepted the senior pastor position at English Creek Baptist Church in Newport, TN. God made it very clear this was the next step for us.
The people have been very loving, welcoming, and extremely generous. We’ve been given so many fresh veggies we could probably open our own roadside stand. Love it! Below are some pictures from our first day in our new house as well as a picture of the church. We’ve now got everything unpacked so there will be more pictures to come.

Mooving Day
June 29 was our moving day. We were so blessed to not have to pack, load, or unload anything but it was a very long day to say the least. The “Moovers” (the name of the company that moved us) got to our old house at 8 a.m. Monday morning and didn’t finish packing and loading until 7 p.m. Brian arrived at our new house at 12 a.m. Tuesday morning. The movers pulled in at 2:30 a.m. At 6:30 in the morning the movers were finally pulling away. Brian then left to get McDonald’s and at 7 it was time for Kharis to wake up. It was a fairly enjoyable day for her and she got a great night’s sleep. She didn’t wake up one time while the movers were unloading. We were so jealous!
Here are some pics of the day…
A SAHM at Last!
On June 11 I officially became a stay-at-home-mom. Grandma Arnold came to visit us that weekend and then the following Monday was my first full day with Kharis. Here are some of the things we did during the day…
- Tummy time!!
- Did some core strength training.
- Practiced passing a piece of paper from one hand to the other.
- Had a little snuggle time.
- Helped put this mountain of clothes away.
- A little alone time in the gym.
It was a great day. Many more to come!

On Monday, May 26, 2008, we took a home pregnancy test and found out that we were great with child (before that we were just plain great). Who knew that peeing on a stick could bring such joy? We even took a picture of the stick but we’ll spare everyone that image.
