She Has a Name – “How’s That Spelled?”
Well, we have decided on a name for our little girl, but we don’t know yet how we want to spell her first name. So, we are asking you to help us. Her name is going to be (I’m putting the first name in parentheses because it’s just the phonetic spelling): (Khar’-es) Grace.
(Khar’-es) is a Greek word meaning “grace”, so her name would technically be, Grace Grace, or, Grace upon Grace. Which, John 1:16 says, ”For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.”
The proper way to spell her first name is “Charis,” but the “c-h”, which makes a “k” sound in this instance, could be confusing. Therefore, we are going to take a poll. Below are some ways we have considered spelling it and we would really appreciate your opinion. Let us know what you think. Thanks!
Listen to the proper pronunciation of her name:
- Charis
- Karis
- Caris
- Kharis
Can you see the family resemblance?

Here’s a better picture of the baby. I hope you enjoy because it wasn’t easy getting this picture. It took us a long time to talk the lady at Wal-Mart into taking the picture. Talk about an awkward moment…

On Monday, May 26, 2008, we took a home pregnancy test and found out that we were great with child (before that we were just plain great). Who knew that peeing on a stick could bring such joy? We even took a picture of the stick but we’ll spare everyone that image.
