Happy Birthday!

Kharis is now three years old! She has been talking about her birthday party for several weeks and it finally arrived. Grandma and Papa came to celebrate the weekend of birthday fun.

First on the agenda… the bounce house!

Next we headed to one of Kharis’ favorite places to eat… Red Robin! (We were in the car for about five minutes and Benny was out!)

The birthday fun continued at Gigi’s Cupcakes where Kharis got to pick out her very own cupcake. Her flavor of choice… Miss Princess! (Strawberry with cream cheese frosting, sugar crystals, and a crown of course.)

We then headed home to open presents. Grandma and Papa got her a vintage suitcase full of dress-up clothes as well as a vintage make-up case filled with jewelry. Lots of make believe fun in our future!

On her actual birthday she awoke to a birthday breakfast of bubble bread…

And later in the day she got to open her present from us. A case of craft items to make tons of fun projects. I thought we’d break it in by making Valentine’s cards. Apparently, Kharis had something else in mind…

The outgrown baby clothes/items are stored and organized! I realized how needed this was when we returned from our Christmas travels and the kids drawers would barely shut due to all the clothes. I had done a pretty good job of keeping up with this when Kharis was little but have fallen behind in my organization obsession. So, thanks to Christine over at i Dream of Clean and Brian for going to get more tubs (and the need for more closet and drawer space and hangers in the kiddos’ rooms) I FINALLY got this done… at least for today! What should I do next?

I’m fairly certain we only purchased like a handful of the items in these tubs. We are continually blessed!!

Christmas 2011

We had a great Christmas with family and friends.

Since Christmas was on a Sunday this year, we celebrated our family Christmas (the opening of presents at least) on Christmas Eve so the kiddos would have a day to play with their toys before we left. (Sunday mornings are crazy around here.)

That evening we went over to some friends’ house and celebrated Christmas Eve with their family. Benny was invited to make gingerbread cookies with the girls.

On Christmas Day we started the trip to Grandma B. and Papa’s house. Once there we experienced lots of present openings, a trip to Chuck E. Cheese, and Kharis got to celebrate the New Year with a bit of “fizzy drink” before heading to bed… (sparkling cider).

On New Year’s Day we headed to Gramma and Papa Arnold’s house. More present opening, Benny got to experience “Bubble Blowing Santa” for the first time, a surprise 30th birthday day for me (cute little poems followed by fun treats throughout the day….cinnamon raisin biscuits from Hardee’s…Starbucks…Arris pizza…shopping with Ash…a trip to the salon; lather lounge and all!!…a date with Brian to Zio’s…and a surprise party equipped with cake, punch, and sweet high school and college friends), and dance time with Uncle Bobo.

It was wonderful!! To all family… hope your houses and lives are back in order after the disruption and destruction of a visit from the Parrish family.

Playing catch-up…not unusual.

Here are some highlights from our August:

Grandpa and grandma Parrish came for a visit so we headed to the big city for a day of bouncing…

Just for fun…

One of the most exciting things that took place in August was the sale of our house in Nashville!!!! The two years of waiting for our house to sell was certainly full of blessings and growth but we were beyond excited to finally have it sold. While in Nashville we got to visit lots of friends and introduce Kharis to one of our favorite Nashville dining spots- McDougal’s (it’s a chicken place…hence the pic with a chicken.)…

Benny loves to play with his sis…

And Benny got to try solid foods for the first time…
